Hello, my name is Gary Gumley and I am the Publisher and Editor of Participate in Democracy – White Rock/South Surrey. I have lived in the South Surrey White Rock area for the past 24 years where my wife and I have raised our two daughters. We enjoy sharing the ups and downs of life on the Semiahmoo peninsula together. Both of us have been actively involved in our community and intend to continue to do so.
As an innovative social entrepreneur, I have both observed and participated in many changes in the world of technology, particularly in communication and learning. My background includes launching innovative technology programs such as the “Live Communicator” (an early version of the current zoom platform). My company used that technology to provide on-line tutoring to students across BC for several years. Prior to that I co-founded the largest distributor of Education Software in Canada and was responsible for developing several very successful CD-ROM and early Internet based interactive educational programs.
Over the past 10 years I have worked to build a locally focused communication hub called “Experience BC”. As with many early-stage technology initiatives the initial iterations of the project have morphed over time and now we are launching the “Participate in Democracy” project.
The experiences I gained over the past 10 years volunteering my services in our community is the catalyst for launching this initiative.
I look forward to the “Participate in Democracy” initiative becoming a catalyst for collaborative communication and more transparent governance in our community.
Thank you for your interest!
